If you experience frequent problems with your wireless connection, interference could be to blame. This interference could come from other wireless or electronic devices in your home or it could be due to the distance and barriers between your computer and Wi-Fi access point. Interference can cause poor signal quality, slow connection times and even dropped connections. Reducing the electronic noise in your house and locating your computer closer to the Wi-Fi source may improve your signal and connection speed.
Reduce or eliminate devices using the 2.4 GHz frequency. Cordless phones, baby monitors and other devices using this frequency can interfere with your wireless connection. Whenever possible, opt for devices that use the 5.8GHz or 900MHz range.

Remove metal barriers. If anything metal is between the Wi-Fi access point and your computer, relocate one or the other. If you've placed your router on one side of a metal filing cabinet or in a room with a metal door, for example, move it to avoid these barriers, if possible. Avoid placing computer equipment near a microwave oven that is in frequent use.

Change your router channel. You might improve the signal strength of your router by changing the channel it operates on. To do this, log into your router settings. How to do this depends on your specific router make and model. Refer to the user guide for more information. Once in your router settings, select a different channel to see if the strength improves.

Reduce the number of active wireless devices. If you connect to many wireless devices either through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth--printers, scanners, smartphones, speakers and pointing devices--turn off or disconnect the items you aren't using.

If you live near power lines, a power station or other external electric structures, these may cause wireless interference as well.
